About this entry

80% of key specs known. Missing: hardening, crown, bracelet offered.

Listed by Zelos on 27 January 2021 ($1,499), alongside the January 2021 steel Swordfish 40 batch; sold out and now in Zelos's Discontinued Models collection. Zelos calls it a limited edition but gives no edition size. "Full Tantalum case and bezel, with 'stealth' lume and hands. Brushed 'sterile' bezel and sandblasted case"; tantalum is a dense, corrosion-resistant, hypoallergenic metal with a bluish-grey hue. Zelos: "The Swordfish 40 (head only) in Tantalum weighs 125g compared to 78g in 316L SS." Same case dimensions as the other Swordfish 40s (40mm, 46mm lug to lug, 12mm, not stated whether that includes the crystal, 20mm lugs, 200m); the steel, bronze, titanium and crystallised-titanium versions are separate models. Spec list: Seiko NH35 with colour-matched date wheel, sapphire with inner AR coating, C3 X1 and BGW9 lume, "120 Click Unidirectional Ceramic Or SS" bezel (a line shared with the steel version; this one's bezel is tantalum, with only a triangle marker at 12 in the photo). The spec list also gives "Bracelet: Screw Links with Flip Lock and Microadjust clasp" (the steel version's text), while Zelos's only photo shows the watch on a tropic rubber strap and the package lists a travel roll; what it shipped on is not clear, so neither bracelet nor strap is recorded. Crown guards per Fratello's review of the crystallised-titanium version of this case and Zelos's photo. Crown type, caseback and crystal shape not stated.
