About this entry

Second-generation Abyss, listed by Zelos on 25 October 2017 for pre-order with deliveries from mid-December 2017 (aBlogtoWatch); Zelos's later Abyss 3 page says the second Abyss "was launched in 2018". All six Abyss 2 listings are in Zelos's Discontinued Models collection. This file is the twin-crown version with the Sellita SW200 (Zelos names only "SW200"; the SW200-1 was Sellita's current version then; grade not stated); the Abyss 2 Turbine (Sellita SW260, single crown, turbine small seconds) is a separate model, as are the Miyota 9015 original and the Abyss 3. Zelos: 43mm CuSn8 bronze case, 51.5mm lug to lug, "19mm thickness" (not stated whether it includes the crystal; aBlogtoWatch's review also gives 19mm), brushed with polished edges, bronze crowns, 7mm-thick double-domed sapphire with inner AR coating, 3000m, 120-click unidirectional bezel with lumed triangle and fully lumed markers, internal 12-hour bezel for a second time zone, multi-level dial with a circular-brushed inner dial, C3/BGW9 on hands and markers, logo engraved on crown and buckle. The 2 o'clock crown turns the 12-hour ring and the 4 o'clock crown sets the time (Fratello, aBlogtoWatch, photos); both are screw-down with five gaskets and lumed 'Z' logos (The Time Bum, aBlogtoWatch). Automatic helium escape valve at 9 o'clock and a solid stainless steel caseback etched with a submersible (aBlogtoWatch, The Time Bum). Date at 3 and dive scale from the photos; 22mm strap per The Time Bum. Fratello: "Each variant is limited in production to only 100 pieces", individually serial-numbered. Shipped in a leather watch roll with a signed rubber dive strap and a canvas strap sharing a skeletonised bronze buckle (aBlogtoWatch); The Time Bum's sample also came with a brown Horween leather strap. No bracelet listed. Prices are the listings' current prices: aBlogtoWatch (December 2017) gave pre-order prices from $569 (retail $949) and $829 for the meteorite (retail $1,099), so the Blue Dial listing's $569 is probably its pre-order price; both aBlogtoWatch's review and The Time Bum give $949 as the regular price.
