About this entry
84% of key specs known. Missing: thickness, weight, hardening.
Swiss-made automatic version of Vaer's "Dirty Dozen" military field watch (black dial, Arabic numerals, small seconds at 6, no date), hand-assembled in Switzerland. The A12 was first released on Kickstarter in 2019 (Vaer journal); aBlogtoWatch (May 2021) described that generation as a 36mm hand-wound ETA 7001 with display back, from USD 899. The current listing is the automatic Sellita SW260-1 in Elaboré grade (product page; a gallery photo of the display caseback shows an automatic rotor marked "31 jewels Swiss Made", matching the SW260-1; Vaer's May 2024 journal also says "Swiss-made Sellita movement" and captions the A12 "36mm Automatic"), so the ETA 7001 generation is not covered here and no release year is recorded. Gallery and bracelet fitments also show a 40mm A12, which is not part of this listing. Brand: 36mm, 43mm lug-to-lug, 20mm lugs, 10 ATM, 316L steel, locking screw-down crown (3 x 6mm), domed sapphire with internal AR, sapphire exhibition caseback with AR, screw-down caseback ("threaded screw-down design"). Thickness is left blank: the spec list says "10.4mm Thickness" without saying whether the domed crystal is included (the same 10.4mm appears for Vaer's 36mm C3 field case, where aBlogtoWatch measured it as the case without the crystal), and the sizing paragraph's "9.4mm in height", "case weight of 63 grams" and "The 40mm case is our most popular size" are the template text repeated on Vaer's other pages, so no weight is recorded either. The description's "Lug Height - 36mm" is an error. The spec list's movement lines "42 hour power reserve" and "-5/+10 sec/day timing tolerance" are the Miyota lines from Vaer's other automatics (the SW260-1 is rated at 38h), and Vaer's May 2024 journal gives "-5/+15 seconds per day" for the A12, so no regulation claim is recorded. Lume per the spec list (25 layers of W20 on the dial, W20 on all three hands); the night photo shows a blue glow, grade not independently confirmed. Every A12 ships with a black FKM strap plus a free khaki nylon or olive single-pass strap, or a paid upgrade; bracelet recorded is the Premium Steel Bracelet (+USD 100 here; "A3/A7/A12/C3 Solar 36mm" fitment): screw links, solid custom-fit end links, quick-release pins, 20-16mm, milled clasp, four spring-bar micro-adjust positions (Vaer bracelet page and FAQ). Lined Horween leather (+USD 120) and an FKM waffle strap (+USD 30) are other options, not recorded as prices. Status: sold out on 2026-10-21 with "No restock planned, sign up for Back in Stock alerts to vote back in" (the listing is also tagged "Retired"), so recorded as discontinued. Vivir's reviews (Miyota 9015/9039) contradict the brand and are not used. No hardening treatment is mentioned.
