About this entry
67% of key specs known. Missing: lug-to-lug, thickness, lug width, weight, hardening.
Zelos's 2015 Kickstarter watch (campaign ended 14 December 2015) with a lugless case scaled up from the Chroma and a four-level dial: an outer sapphire ring with polished hour markers held by four screws, an inner sapphire minute ring with laser-engraved numerals, and a brushed base dial, read by thin sandblasted rotating discs instead of hands (hour, minute and a logo seconds disc). All three listings are sold out and in Zelos's Discontinued Models collection. Zelos's spec list: 45mm 316L steel lugless case ("wears slightly smaller than other 45mm watches"), brushed, polished and sandblasted finishing, Swiss ETA 2824 automatic, double-domed sapphire with bevelled edges and inner AR coating, sapphire dial components, engraved logo on seconds hand, crown and buckle. The product text still says the discs are "powered by the Miyota automatic movement": the Kickstarter launch named the Miyota 9015, and Worn & Wound's and The Time Bum's 2016 reviews say Zelos switched to the ETA 2824 for production, so the ETA (grade not stated) is recorded. No date window (photos). From the reviews: 50m, no lume, push/pull crown at 4, display caseback with a cutout cover patterned on the minute disc (engraved with the production number). Thickness and lug width conflict between the reviews (Worn & Wound: 14.5mm and 22mm hidden lugs; The Time Bum: 13.5mm and a 22mm strap notched to fit 20mm lugs), so neither is recorded. The PVD Blue and Rose Gold have a dark, gunmetal-looking PVD-coated steel case in the photos; Zelos doesn't describe the coating. Price: the store lists $649 for each; both 2016 reviews call $649 an offer against an $849 full price, and the Kickstarter pledges ran from about $549 (AUD 779). Weight not published.
