About this entry

87% of key specs known. Missing: weight, hardening.

USA-assembled 41.5mm solar tactical field watch, launched in September 2025 (early-bird access 23 September, general release 30 September; Vaer said supply would be limited). The automatic A4 Tactical Field uses the same case and is a separate model. Brand spec lists (identical on both pages apart from the coating): 41.5mm, 48mm lug-to-lug, 12.8mm thickness, 20mm lugs, 20 ATM, 316L matte (bead-blasted) steel, locking screw-down crown at 4 o'clock, "12-hour bezel: uni-directional and 120-click", sapphire with AR coating (side not stated), "Japan Made Epson VS-42", 6-month reserve from 6 hours of light, -10/+20 sec/month, assembled in the USA. Lug-to-lug: Vaer's February 2026 C4 guide says 48.5mm and The Time Bum measured 48.6mm; the product pages' 48mm is kept. Thickness: the guide also says 12.8mm, The Time Bum measured 12.7mm and Two Broke Watch Snobs gives 12.8mm "including the bezel"; with the flat crystal (guide; The Time Bum: "flat sapphire crystal with a beveled edge") it is recorded as total thickness. No date window in any photo, although the VS42 has one and the store tags the listings "date"; The Time Bum notes the crown's unused date position, so complications are hours, minutes and seconds. The "case weight of 70.6 grams" in the sizing paragraph is the D5 39mm figure repeated across Vaer's pages, so no weight is recorded. Bezel: the guide describes a unidirectional 12-hour bezel with a 20-minute graduated scale and bead-blasting across case and bezel; Two Broke Watch Snobs says the insert is DLC-treated steel rather than aluminum. Solid screw-down caseback with the NATO phonetic alphabet around a blank centre meant for engraving (guide; bare steel on the DLC model). Vaer also cites a reinforced rubber shock cage around the movement. Lume: 3D-printed C3 Super-LumiNova blocks on the dial and C3 on the hands, 24-hour markers, red-tipped seconds hand (Vaer lume rating 10/10). The DLC version has a black DLC-coated case "for increased surface hardness" (guide; no figure given); case hardening is not recorded because it applies to one variant only. Its first product image's file name says "STEEL" but the photo shows the black DLC case. "No compatible steel bracelet at this time" (product pages), so no bracelet is offered. Ships with a black FKM Waffle strap plus a single-pass strap; the green FKM Waffle second strap costs USD 30 more (549 / 569). The Time Bum (May 2026) quoted USD 479 and 499 (DLC); the store now lists 519 and 539. Both were in stock on 2026-10-21. No other hardening treatment is mentioned.
