About this entry

67% of key specs known. Missing: weight, hardening, crown, lume, bracelet offered.

The first-generation steel Brunswick, Fears' first mechanical watch after the 2016 relaunch: a 38mm cushion case with the hand-wound ETA 7001 (Fears' "Top-grade", hours, minutes and small seconds at 6), sold as "Brunswick" with references BS23800A. It is a separate model from today's Brunswick 38 (ETA 7001) (references BS23800B, 100m, 11.84mm) because the case is rated and sized differently. Spec tabs of the Blue and Brown pages: 38 x 38mm, 42mm lug-to-lug, 20mm lugs, 11.25mm to the top of the domed sapphire (AR coated inside and outside), 50m, screw-down bezel and caseback; the crown is not described as screw-down. Caseback differs by batch: Series 1 and the Blue are described with a sapphire display back (the case's "only one flat surface"), the Brown with a solid back engraved with the 175th anniversary emblem and edition number, and the White Series 2 with a solid swept caseback and an open one on request. Series 1 (2017-2018, 67 made): case machined in the UK and hand-polished, cold resin enamel dial made in the UK, the first 14 with a golden movement ring and the first 19 numbered on the movement ring; Fears publishes no dimensions for it. White Series 2 (2019-2021, 30 made): its archive page shows the spec tab of the current Brunswick 38 White (100m, 11.84mm), which is shared with that page, so it is recorded here by its BS23800A reference and production years; its rating and thickness are uncertain. Fears Blue: multi-tone galvanic blue dial; sold out, with no end date given. Burnt Ochre (sold as Brunswick Brown): 2021, five numbered pieces for the 175th anniversary of the company's founding, supplied with three straps. All four pages load but show no stock on 2026-10-25. Prices are the last ex-VAT prices in Fears' store data; Escapement gave an RRP of £2,300 including VAT in January 2018 for the Series 1 against the £1,458.33 ex-VAT (£1,750) the archive page holds.
