About this entry
95% of key specs known. Missing: hardening.
Vaer's lowest-priced 36mm quartz field watch ("Standard Issue" collection), in the date-display colourways (Calendar Field Black, Calendar Field White, Tactical Field). The S3 Tradition (no date) is a separate model, as are the 40mm and 42mm S5. Brand spec lists (identical on all three pages apart from dial, lume and coating): 36mm, 43mm lug-to-lug, 8.4mm thickness, 20mm lugs, 10 ATM, 316L steel, locking screw-down crown, flat sapphire with AR coating (side not stated), "Japan Made GM12" with a date window (date at 3 in every photo), 40-month battery life, -10/+20 sec/month; the sizing paragraph repeats 36mm, 43mm and 8.4mm and gives a "case weight of 46 grams" (recorded as head weight). Thickness is Vaer's single "8.4mm" figure; it does not say whether it includes the flat crystal. These figures differ from the S5 pages (48mm, 9.4mm, 54g), so they were not copied from the 40mm; only the paragraph's "The 40mm case is our most popular size" sentence is shared boilerplate. Vaer's 2022 S3/S5 brochure confirms 36mm with 20mm lugs, 316L, 10 ATM, "Japanese Miyota GM12/GR12", a 3 x 6mm screw-down crown and a threaded screw-down caseback; the Calendar Field Black gallery shows a solid caseback engraved "Japan Movement / Designed in Los Angeles / Sapphire Glass / 316L Steel". Gear Patrol's July 2023 list gave "the S3" (USD 179, colourway not named) a Miyota 2035, a no-date caliber that contradicts the date window, and called it US-assembled; Vaer's GM12 and Asian assembly are kept. Lume per the spec lists: 7 layers of C1 on the Calendar Field Black (Vaer lume rating 6/10), 15 layers of Old Radium on the Calendar Field White (6/10) and 15 layers of green-tinted C3 on the Tactical Field (9/10), each also on the hour, minute and seconds hands. The Tactical Field has a matte black PVD-coated case (cosmetic; no hardness claim), and its page says "Assembled in China" where the Calendar Field pages say Hong Kong. Plain fixed bezel (photos). Bracelet recorded is the Premium Steel Bracelet (+USD 90 on the Calendar Field colourways; its "S3/C3 Swiss Quartz 36mm" fitment carries the same BRVSBR36A code as the watch SKUs): oyster-inspired flat three-piece links, removable screw links, custom-fit end links, quick-release pins, 20-16mm, milled clasp (bracelet page title), four micro-adjust positions at the clasp (Vaer FAQ). The watch pages' generic straps blurb ("friction fit pins... tapers to 18mm") describes Vaer's older Standard bracelet. The Tactical Field is currently sold only with the silicone and khaki nylon straps. Store listings were created in September 2021 (Calendar Field Black), August 2022 (White) and January 2023 (Tactical; its page says it was released in 2022); whether the earliest batches had today's movement was not checked, so no release year is recorded. No independent hands-on review was found. No hardening treatment is mentioned. All three were in stock on 2026-10-21.
