About this entry

87% of key specs known. Missing: weight, hardening.

Zelos's first Mirage, listed on 2 June 2020 in three case materials, each a separate model: titanium ($10,900), Ti-Damascus (this file) and mokume-gane ($11,900). All five listings sold out and are in Zelos's Discontinued Models collection. Zelos calls the case material Timascus or Titanium Damascus: grade 2 and grade 5 titanium "repeatedly folded and forged", each piece torched by Elshan, about 350°C for yellow and 500°C for blue; Zelos says it was the first watch maker to use the material. Edition: five Ti-Damascus pieces per the collection page, three blue and two yellow per the product pages and Arab Watch Guide; ten Mirage Tourbillons in all. Movement: La Joux-Perret LJP 7814 hand-wound, skeletonised flying tourbillon (60h, 28,800 vph per Zelos, aBlogtoWatch and WatchesBySJX; one press summary's 72h is not used), customised for Zelos (Worn & Wound: "largely customized to Zelos' specs"); Zelos says the gear train was redesigned to sit alongside the tourbillon cage instead of under it. The collection page describes the movement with black PVD mainplates, as Zelos's photos of these two show. Display: hours, minutes and the flying tourbillon at 6; no separate seconds hand. Zelos spec list: 41mm, 45mm lug to lug, "9.5mm without crystal", 20mm strap width, 50m, sapphire front, dial and back. Total thickness 11.5mm is the "Height" in WatchesBySJX's key facts (whose text gives 9.5mm excluding the crystal) and the "Thickness" in Arab Watch Guide's spec list. The top crystal is described as "box-style" (aBlogtoWatch), domed (Gear Patrol) and "high double domed" with AR coating on the underside (Arab Watch Guide), so the shape is not recorded. Push/pull crown per Worn & Wound. Both straps (black Horween leather and a crocodile strap, Himalayan Grey on these listings; Zelos says Himalayan Grey or Antiqued Blue depending on the case variant), a Zingana wood box and a leather travel briefcase are included. Buckle, case finishing, hardening and weight not stated.
