About this entry

60% of key specs known. Missing: movement, lug-to-lug, weight, hardening, crown, lume.

Rectangular Art Deco watch, a scaled-up recreation of a 1930 Fears watch, made for the company's 175th anniversary in 2021 with new-old-stock movements. Hours and minutes only: the hand-wound ETA 2360 (circa 1968; 17 jewels, 18,000 vph, 40-hour power reserve per Fears) is rebuilt in the UK with an upgraded mainspring, and Fears expects ±20 s/day. There is no movement file for this vintage caliber (no factory spec sheet could be found), so only the movement type is recorded. Case 40 x 22mm per Fears and Fratello: the 22mm width is recorded as the diameter; the 40mm length is not recorded as lug-to-lug because neither source says it is measured tip to tip. 8.54mm deep (curved crystal and caseback). Each Vintage Champagne watch is engraved with one of the years 1846-1976 and 2016-2021 (136 pieces); the Archival 1930 Small Seconds (ETA 717, separate model) took the remaining 39 years. The Perpétuel Edition (25 pieces, British Racing Green dial with applied Eastern Arabic numerals, listed March 2024) was sold through Perpétuel Gallery, Dubai. Both are sold out; their pages still load. Prices are the ex-VAT prices in Fears' store data, also shown as "Ex. Vat" on product pages that still show a price (UK buyers pay 20% VAT on top); Fratello gave £3,500 for the two-hander at launch in 2021.
