Vortic's American Artisan Series in the 49mm case, which takes 16-size and railroad-grade pocket-watch movements (listed December 2019 to April 2026, mostly since 2022). Every piece is unique: Vortic restores an antique American pocket-watch movement (kept with its original dial and hands; Vortic dates them 1880s-1950s) and converts it into a wristwatch in a Vortic case, so the specific watch, movement and price vary from piece to piece. Vortic names each series after the city where, or near where, the movement's maker was based; the Railroad versions, with railroad-grade lever-set movements, are separate variants. Variants are the series sold in this size. Each is priced from the cheapest piece of that series in 49mm for sale on 2026-10-24, or, when none was for sale, from the most recently listed sold piece, citing that piece's page. On that date the store listed 25 pieces in 49mm and none was for sale, so every price comes from the latest sold piece of its series. Series (movement maker, as Vortic gives it), pieces listed, price range and the year the priced piece was listed: Chicago (Elgin Watch Company) 8, $1,700-$4,500, latest sold 2024; Boston Railroad (Waltham Watch Company) 7, $4,700-$8,300, latest sold 2025 (The Boston Railroad 010, whose title omits the size but whose spec table and Vortic's size filter say 49mm); Boston (Waltham) 4, $4,600-$5,700, latest sold 2026; Rockford (Rockford Watch Company) 2, $4,000-$4,600, latest sold 2023; Springfield (Illinois Watch Company, Springfield, Illinois) 2, $5,500-$6,000, latest sold 2024; Chicago Railroad (Elgin) 1, $7,900, sold 2026; Springfield Railroad (Illinois) 1, $5,900, sold 2025. Pieces are counted by the size in their titles; The Chicago 331, titled 49mm, has a spec table describing a 47mm case with a 12-size movement. Vortic's special and limited editions (Military Edition, Comparing Watch, NATO Conversion and others) are listed under the same product type and also use 49mm cases, but are separate releases and are not included. Status: Vortic's pages don't list the case sizes on offer (its watch builder is "taking a break" and the American Artisan Series page names no sizes), but 3 new 49mm pieces were listed in 2026, the latest in April, so it is recorded as in production. Movement: manual-wind 16-size movements (lever-set in the Railroad versions; two Chicago tables say 12-size); maker, grade, jewel count (17 to 23) and year differ by piece, so no caliber is recorded. Vortic's spec tables give about 36 hours' power reserve. Specs recorded are those every 49mm spec table sampled agrees on (all 25 pieces, 2019-2026): 1 ATM water resistance and sapphire crystals front and back (display caseback). Every piece since 2023 that gives a lug or strap width says 24mm (five tables, five straps), but earlier pages give none (apart from The Chicago 331's 47mm table), so lug width is left blank; thickness (13.5mm or 14.5mm) and lug-to-lug (59mm or 60mm) vary and are left blank too. Case material and finish vary by piece: mostly machined titanium, also bronze, stainless steel (some with bronze bezels) and DLC-coated steel; the 2019-2020 tables say 3D-printed titanium. The crown is at 12 o'clock on the pieces pictured, where it was on the pocket watch (some 45mm and 47mm pieces have the movement turned to put it at 3). Vortic's American Artisan Series page says the crystals are Corning Gorilla Glass; the product spec tables say sapphire, which is recorded.
